To Becca's Family

I've been told by a doctor who has no connection to Becca's case, based on a description of the condition, just how serious her condition is. We're all praying.

Judge Alex asked me if I had Becca's mom's cell phone number. I obviously don't. He may have gotten the number by now. If not, could someone PM him on Twitter or FB with the info? He, too, is most concerned.

I'm so sorry you're all going through such a trying time. I'm praying for a miracle.

Love,
Alexis

  1. I'm thinking of her all the time. Have you had any contact with her or her family?

  2. Her Nana left a message that all they can do is wait right now. I don't know how long such matters typically drag on before there is some sort of turn in one direction or another. I'd ask my dad, but he'd tell me an answer even if he didn't know the correct one, so I'd never know if I had received the right answer or not.

  3. Hey Alexis! I'm sorry you've been so worried. Monday the ICU doctors and Infectious Disease decided that it would be best for me if they pulled out my Broviac. Because yeast likes plastic and lots of times the Candida is able to adapt into the line and colonize before they break off and cause sepsis. Anyway, Monday they pulled it and so far the last positive they got was from 36 hours ago. Right now, the plan is to put a new central in, all of this is pending on whether or not they get another positive or not, and so far the peripheral labs from Wednesday and early this morning have been no growth. So tomorrow I have surgery in the morning. Part of me thinks that they may be pushing it up because I have been a really bad IV stick this time around. I had an arterial line in ICU, but they were able to take that out as my blood pressures stabilized. I've blown 3 IVs since yesterday, mostly because they have been running TPN through them and smaller veins can't handle TPN. That's like an entire other story. But, as far from an infectious standpoint, the fevers are gone and as long as they continue to stay gone and my blood pressures stay alright, we’re going to continue on with the anti-fungals.

Since I've got out of ICU, it's like my Nana apparently said, it's just been a lot of waiting and seeing. Tuesday was a total bust of a day, I was throwing up from the pain meds they were giving me. Apparently the longer the Broviac is in, the longer it's grown into my body and the more trouble they have pulling it out. So, hopefully Pete can put it back in the same spot, and I don't have one of those fancy neck ones.

I'm going to sign off, but my StepDad said I could leave you his number. He's here with me tonight, but I'm not sure if Nana is coming back tomorrow to be with me post surgery or whatever. I have been doing so much better since they removed my Broviac. Getting over the pain from that and finally getting in some IVs that are more flexible for typing. 7174975807

  4. Becca, you have no idea how great it is to hear from you! We'll all be praying for you successful surgery. Judge Alex was trying to reach you mom. He probably did, but may I give him you stepdad's number in case he has't been successful?
    Love,
    Alexis
