Political Rantings

I'm contemplating switching my voter registration to Republican for the presidential primary. If it looks as though my pal Marco Rubio is still in the race by the time the California primary rolls around, I will wish to support him. If he's for all intents and purposes out of the race, I'll participate in the democratic primary.

I was pleasantly surprised that Rubio did as well as he did in Iowa. It will be interesting to see what happens in New Hampshire, where a greater percentage of the population may actually be sane. Regarding Trump, and Cruz, I'm hard-pressed to decide which one is the lesser of the two evils.

My brother thinks I like Rubio because he's better-looking than the other candidates. I won't argue that he's the best-looking of the presidential candidates, though that's not why I support him. I don't disagree with the majority of Trump's views on the major issues, as he's a relatively moderate candidate. I do think, though, that he's so inflammatory and so lacking in decorum -- the apparent absence of any sort of internal filter regulating the words that come out of his mouth is particularly appalling -- that it would be unwise for our populace to elect him. I also think Trump is a sexist pig.

I  have only one vote, which I will cast it whether it makes any difference or not.  It would be nice if the U.S. would drop the whole electoral college thing for presidential elections. It's obsolete in modern times.

Is there currently in circulation a photo of Ted Cruz that doesn't make him look like a comic book character?

  1. Every time I see a picture of Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, I feel like smacking them.

    1. Seeing pictures them incites either violent feelings or feelings of violent illness in me depending upon the day.

  2. The have a beer test - would you want to have a beer with that candidate?

For me: Rubio and Sanders pass. Clinton, Trump and certainly Cruz fail. You have to feel at least some connection with the candidate to vote for them.

    As always, thanks. LP

    1. I agree both with your criteria for voting and with your assessment of the candidates.

  3. "When I am president, what I will do to defeat ISIL is very simple: whatever it takes. Exactly what it will take will depend on how the situation on the ground changes over the next 15 months.wor" In other words, Senator Rubio has no plan, just platitudes.

    1. I'm inclined to believe no one who has been in the office truly has a plan. Candidates may think they have plans, but once they're in office, they find out how unrealistic their plans were. Just my opinion.

      Thanks for reading and commenting.

  5. Also grossly uninformed: "o it seems like he should be especially aware of how many undocumented immigrants are in the U.S. -- and the fact that the number has leveled off or even decreased in recent years.

Rubio said the opposite Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"We are worse off today than we were five years ago," he told host Chuck Todd. "We have more illegal immigrants here."

  7. Of the group Sanders is the nerd. He studied other countries and found a group of countries that was doing democracy better than us and wants to use the good things from other countries. Like here is Wikipedia on Denmark.

First here is a joke that I made up. What do you call a great person from Denmark. A great Dane (which is a dog).

"Danes enjoy a high standard of living and the country ranks highly in some metrics of national performance, including education, health care, protection of civil liberties, democratic governance, prosperity and human development.[10][11][12] Denmark is frequently ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world in cross-national studies of happiness.[13][14] The country ranks as having the world's highest social mobility,[15] a high level of income equality,[16] has one of the world's highest per capita incomes."

It mentions happiness. I think that is most important thing in life. Here is what Freud says about it. "The question of the purpose of human life has been raised countless times; it has never yet received a satisfactory answer and perhaps does not admit of one.... We will therefore turn to the less ambitious question of what men themselves show by their behaviour to be the purpose and intention of their lives. What do they demand of life and wish to achieve in it? The answer to this can hardly be in doubt. They strive after happiness; they want to become happy and to remain so."
Sigmund Freud (founded the psychoanalytic school of psychology).

  8. Here is a song for you, Alexis! "I Wanna Know."
    "Cause I only wanna
    make you happy
    From the bottom of
    my heart it's true"

"I like to know what makes you cry,
so I can always be the one who makes you smile"

  11. Marco Rubio is married with 4 children. At 8 years old, he became a Mormon. At 13 he went back to the Catholic church where he has stayed. Also you said about Trump "he's so inflammatory and so lacking in decorum -- the apparent absence of any sort of internal filter regulating the words that come out of his mouth is particularly appalling." Well on Youtube there is DONALD TRUMP MAKES FUN OF DISABLED NEWS REPORTER:

A basic rule of psychology is if person A likes person B and person B likes person C, then it creates a tendency for person A to like person C. So since you like Rubio and I like you, I am interested in Rubio. It can work other ways where I do not like you since I do not like Rubio but I have a severe lack of hate.

  12. Latest news for Alexis: Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush attacked Trump for using profane language. On Friday, Rubio won the endorsement of another ex-candidate, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. I think that Rubio is doing so well cause people read in your blog that you like him!

  13. Alexis, You had an article about Ted Cruz being funny looking. Others are also seeing it too. One little girl would not kiss him. The article that this links to is called "'SNL' Mocks 'Nasty Little Weasel' Ted Cruz After Iowa Caucus Win" SNL is the TV show Saturday Night Live. It made fun of him. I told you handsomeness is a big factor for the presidency.

    1. Chuck, the little girl who would not kiss Ted Cruz was his own daughter. Pretty telling, huh?

    2. In the skit the girl was his daughter, but it was making fun of a little girl in real life that did not know him and did not want to kiss him.

    3. Chuck, I believe it all came about as a result of the real-life incident in which his older child really did not want to kiss him or to have him kiss her in an encounter on the campaign trail. Here's the BBC's footage of it from youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gplpSfaouP8

    4. You are right! That is not good to have on Youtube. Does't the girl know that she could live in the White House? Maybe she does not want to move and live in the White House. With that recent picture, I have to say that in my opinion you are the most beautiful woman that ever existed. You look so spectacular. Thanks for posting that picture.

    1. I didn't know there was such a thing as benign stalking. Of course it would be noted at BYU. Thanks for the link.

    2. From the stalkee point of view, I don't think it's ever benign, even at BYU, since you have to evaluate how sane the person is without full knowlege. la perla
