| Perhaps geekism has redefined itself. |
Twerking is a style of dancing I don't know if I could master if I had any desire to. Fortunately for me and for everyone else, I have no desire to take it on, and it would take so much mind-altering substance to persuade me to try twerking that I'd be dead from an overdose of whatever I took before I even made it to the dance floor. I actually have some rhythm, so to speak. (We all know that dancing ability is really not about rhythm or even coordination. It's just a unique and mysterious skill that some possess to a high degree, some were out with the unicorns playing in the rain when God was handing out the skills to pre-mortals or babies or whomever, and most possess to some degree between the maximum and none at all.)
Anyway, twerking involves moving ones buttocks up and down rapidly while dancing. The most recent edition of The Oxford English Dictionary defines twerk as: a verb meaning "to dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low squatting stance.
"The geekosystem website defines the OED's inclusion of twerk as a waste of time, but, furthermore, proclaims the definition to be inaccurate. The site takes exception to the description of thrusting hip movements, to the necessity of popular music as an essential element, to the squatting stance as being elemental, and to the sexual provocativity of the dance move. Geekosystem proclaims that what is sexually provocative to one isn't necessarily to anyone else. I'm inclined to go along with Geekosystem. After all, who has a better opportunity to closely observe twerkers practicing their "art" : aged and overpaid Brits, or self-proclaimed geeks who have the ability to blend into the woodwork as they observe twerkers perfecting their arts. If your answer was B, you guessed correctly.
For further information on the topic if you are interested, which I suspect you're not check out the website. http://www.geekosystem.com/twerk-in-oed/. It's interesting reading even if you have less interest in twerking than I do, which I doubt is possible.
This blog is ended. Go now in peace to love and serve the Lord and to learn everything you ever wanted to know about twerking.
